FDA & USDA APPROVED FLOORING

What Is USDA or FDA Approved Flooring?

North American regulatory agencies have provided guidance on floor and wall system construction requirements for food & beverage manufacturing, processing and preparation facilities. These guidelines are updated periodically and often serve as a blueprint for localized municipal codes and regulations. While all Resinwerks flooring systems are USDA, FDA and CFIA complaint, some systems are better suited for food & beverage facilities. For specification assistance, please contact Resinwerks directly to speak with technical services.

FDA:

  • All Resinwerks flooring systems are FDA compliant as per the FDA and Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) US Food Code 6.101.11 Surface Characteristics.
  • 6-101.11 Surface Characteristics. (A) Except as specified in (B) of this section, materials for indoor floor, wall, and ceiling surfaces under conditions of normal use shall be: (1) SMOOTH, durable, and EASILY CLEANABLE for areas where FOOD ESTABLISHMENT operations are conducted; (2) Closely woven and EASILY CLEANABLE carpet for carpeted areas; and (3) Nonabsorbent for areas subject to moisture such as FOOD preparation areas, walk-in refrigerators, WAREWASHING areas, toilet rooms, mobile FOOD ESTABLISHMENT SERVICING AREAS, and areas subject to flushing or spray cleaning methods. USDA:

  • All Resinwerks flooring systems are USDA compliant as per the USDA Sanitation Performance Standards Compliance Guide. 6-201.11 Floors, Walls, and Ceilings. Except as specified under § 6-201.14, the floors, floor coverings, walls, wall coverings, and ceilings shall be designed, constructed, and installed so they are smooth and easily cleanable, except that antislip floor coverings or applications may be used for safety reasons. CFIA:

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency no longer offers Letters of Acceptance, however the CFIA has provided guidance on various requirements for construction materials used within food & beverage settings.

• All Resinwerks Floor Systems, when installed by a professional contractor, form a seamless and impermeable bond that helps to inhibit microbial growth. These systems may incorporate silver-ion anti-microbial pigments for added sanitary properties.

• All aforementioned materials are free of any noxious constituents and will not result in any food contamination through the life cycle of the floor.

• When required by the CFIA, Resinwerks will provide any and all required paperwork to verify that the aforementioned products are indeed safe for use within food manufacturing, storage and preparation environments.
